The Magister's court

The Grand Master's court attracted a significant number of scholars and artists, both Frankish and Greek, much like the papal court and the courts of other European rulers. Among them was Guillaume Caoursin, a Doctor from the University of Paris and one of the most cultivated individuals living in Rhodes at the time.
He wrote the history of the Siege of Rhodes in 1480 and, at the behest of P. d’ Aubusson, codified the order's laws (Stabilimenta Rhodiorum Militum) and translated them into French.
