The collection of relics and artefacts of the Parish of the Holy Cross of Apollona

The collection of relics and artefacts of the parish of Apollona includes more than three hundred objects, most of which are of exceptional artistic quality and value. Almost all of them are ecclesiastical objects, but it also contains jewelry, offerings from believers, and utilitarian objects that have acquired new uses within the liturgical practice of the parish.
An important relic is the "Codex of Apollona" or "Codex of Artamitis", a manuscript written on parchment. It is a work of the hieromonk Nilos, Abbot of the holy monastery of Artamitis, dating back to 1181. Another important relic of the parish is the icon of Panagia Karyonitissa, which bears a silver plate with the coat of arms of the Grand Magister Pierre d' Aubusson.
The silver sheet cover of the icon is exhibited in the museum. The exhibition also contains a processional cross, the "Cross of Apollona", a work of exceptional art. Visitors to the museum can explore the cross through an interactive display.
The collection also includes a large number of early printed books, portable and processional icons, silver-bound gospels, carved wood objects, crosses and flabella, holy vestments, belt buckles, textile liturgical objects, ceramic vessels, marble architectural fragments and other objects.
